People who drive for a living—think Uber and Lyft drivers, sales people, and of course parents who are constantly running back and forth between home, school, the store and activities—are in dire need of a car that won’t make them go broke at the gas pump. Here are 10 of the most reliable cars for high mileage driving.

It should come as no surprise that Honda would be at the top of this list as far as good gas mileage is concerned. Honda is famous for their reliability, safety and infrequent trips to the pump. The base Accord has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 32 highway mpg. The mid-range EX offers an even better 36 highway mpg. There’s also the Accord Hybrid with a fuel economy of 47 highway mpg. Best of all, the Honda Accord and its hybrid counterpart are very reasonable in price (and they look good too).

You can’t talk about the Accord and not mention the Honda Civic. A smaller vehicle for sure, but you get an EPA ~38 highway mpg in the hatchback and 39 highway mpg in the coupe. The best choice for fuel economy is the sedan with an EPA ~40 highway mpg.

The Toyota Camry is another extremely popular car that you see cruising up and down the highway all the time. While it has recently fallen behind Honda in terms of excitement, it’s still an extremely reliable vehicle. The fuel economy across the Toyota Camry lineup is an EPA-estimated 33 highway mpg.

The Camry Hybrid has a fuel economy of 38 highway mpg. The Camry is very competitive with the Accord, except the Accord Hybrid does appear to win out with a better highway mpg as compared to the Camry Hybrid.

I have to admit, the Toyota Avalon was not on my radar when I set out to research cars with the best gas mileage. For some reason, the Prius, Camry, 4Runner and the Highlander always seem to come to mind first. However, the Avalon gets great gas mileage for a luxury car with a larger engine. Even with a slight reduction in fuel economy, it still gets 30 highway mpg. The Hybrid XLE Plus version of the Avalon is right on pace with the Camry with an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 39 highway mpg.

You know there would be something wrong if a Prius wasn’t on the list as one of the most reliable cars. The 2017 Toyota Prius gets an EPA-estimated 50 highway mpg helping high-mileage drivers save big at the pump. The most fuel-efficient model is the Prius Two Eco with an EPA estimated 53 highway mpg.

Subaru Outback & Legacy

Subaru is another popular car brand seen cruising through the suburban streets. I always imagine the owners are constantly planning their next trip to the mountains and crossing rugged terrain to hit the slopes this coming winter. What you might not realize is how great the gas mileage is with an EPA highway fuel economy of 32 MPG. That kind of mpg puts the Outback in the same ranks as Toyota and Honda (not a bad crowd to be in).

Subaru’s second appearance on this list is the Legacy. For those not familiar with the Legacy, it’s your standard looking sedan with an impressive EPA-estimated 34 highway mpg. The higher level models of the Legacy does have a powerful engine with the side effect of bringing the gas mileage down to 28 highway mpg, but for the extra features and power, it could be well worth it.

Nissan Maxima

2017 Nissan Maxima MOST RELIABLE CARS

Carjojo Starting Price: $23,702

Save up to $6,713 after Rebates

MSRP: $33,915 | 21 MPG City/30 MPG highway

It should not be a surprise to see Nissan on a Top 10 list of cars with the best gas mileage. Nissan is known for their power and the Maxima boasts a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 300 horsepower and 261 lb-ft of torque. That extra power does not diminish the fuel efficiency with an EPA-estimated 30 highway mpg.

Mazda3

Carjojo Starting Price: $12,999

Save up to $3,721 after Rebates

MSRP: $18,720 | 27 MPG City/37 MPG highway

The 2017 Mazda3 might appear near the bottom of the list, but it provides much flexibility that professional and amateur drivers crave. It is available as either a 4-door sedan or a hatchback and both of them will provide excellent fuel efficiency with an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 37 mpg. This is a fun car to drive, even if you do spend the entire day cruising around.

Hyundai Sonata

Hyundai Sonata MOST RELIABLE CARS

MSRP: $23,175 | 25 MPG City/36 MPG highway

Hyundai is one of those car brands that keep popping up on Top 10 lists all the time. One of the reasons for that is an EPA ~36 highway mpg; plus, it looks great going down the road. The Sonata lineup has a few different engines to choose from, including a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 245 horsepower. But don’t let the bigger engine scare you off, the higher powered Sonata still achieves an EPA-estimated 30 highway mpg.
