Which Top SUV Is The Best
For Your Personality?
Dad Cars Edition
by Bill Flitter
Back in the day they used to say, “The clothes make the man”. Now though, that saying isn’t nearly as relevant as it used to be. But, you can totally tell what kind of a man you are by the SUV you drive. Here now is your guide to your Dad-Type or personality as dictated through which kind of dad cars you’d drive.
Which Of These Dad Cars Matches Your Personality?
2017 Honda CR-V
Are you the type of man that drops the kids off at elementary school each morning? There’s a chance you’re driving a Honda CR-V. You may not be quite ready to start carpooling the whole team. However, you can certainly fit a few soccer chairs in the back.
You’ve probably also used that tailgate area to change more than one diaper while on a road trip. I know I have. If that describes you, you’re most likely a Family Man.
2017 GMC Terrain
The GMC Terrain Denali looks just like a Yukon Denali, but only smaller (in many ways). The Terrain has a smaller price tag than the Yukon. The Terrain only has two rows of seating as compared to the Yukon’s three.
The Yukon has a bigger engine and cargo area when compared to the Terrain, which comes up short. If you find yourself happily and comfortably driving the Terrain instead of the Yukon, then you’re the type of man who does not need to compensate for anything lacking. You sir, are a Well-Adjusted Man.
2017 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid
The RAV4 Hybrid is a rare compact SUV, which boasts both hybrid technology and still comes in under $30,000. The hybrid version of the RAV4 gets 34 city and 30 highway mpg, which gives it excellent fuel economy.
It also gets high marks when it comes to cargo space. The RAV4 also comes with more standard features than the others. It just falls short when it comes to style. So, if you find yourself driving a RAV4 Hybrid, you’re most likely a Conservative-Commuter Man. Maybe you enjoy the extra cargo space, don’t mind the lack of style, but you certainly appreciate the infrequent trips to the pump.
2017 Jeep Wrangler
The 2017 Jeep Wrangler still has that classic, rugged look that just begs to be driven down a beach, crossed over a shallow stream, and taken out for a joyride through the desert. The Wrangler is known for its off road capability and its large V6 engine.
Let’s just hope you don’t mind an uncomfortable ride and subpar handling on the pavement. But if you’re the sporty type, then you probably don’t care about the poor fuel economy or the expensive price tag. After all, you’re Adventure Man.
2017 Mazda CX-5
Fantastic performance, smooth ride, upscale cabin, roomy and comfortable seats: that’s how US News & World Report describes the 2017 Mazda CX-5. This completely redesigned compact SUV has smooth lines and a sleek exterior.
This car is made for a man who appreciates style but still needs enough room for at least five adults. Sounds great for double dates or going out on the town with the guys. If this describes you, then you’re Stylish Man.
2019 Subaru Forester
Every time I see a Subaru Forester, I think of my brother who bought a Subaru to take to Tahoe for skiing. And I also think of my old neighbors who also had a Subaru and took it to Tahoe for skiing. So now, in my mind, the Forester is a going-to-Tahoe-for-skiing compact SUV.
The pros include excellent cargo capacity, spacious rear seats, good mileage, standard all-wheel drive. As well as a long list of other safety features. If you find yourself driving a Subaru, I hear by name you Sporty Man.
